Meet the Chef

Hi, I’m Guy — chef, pizza nerd, and founder of Clay Oven Pizza.
I’ve spent decades in the culinary world, working every job from dishwasher to Culinary Director. My journey started in my grandma’s kitchen and took me through fast-paced restaurants, large-scale events, and everything in between. No matter the role, one thing’s always been true: I love creating food that brings people together.
My love for pizza started during summers spent working at pizzerias along the Jersey Shore. Fast, hot, and full of flavor — it was a crash course in the kind of food that connects people. After college, I moved to Boulder and landed a job at The Med. It was there that I discovered the classic cuisines of Italy, Spain, France, and the entire Mediterranean region — sparking a lifelong love of food and hospitality. It’s also where I made my very first wood-fired pizza, and that was the moment everything clicked. I was hooked.
At The Med, I also met Antonio Laudisio and began making pizzas in his mobile wood-fired ovens at parties, festivals, and the Boulder Farmers Market. Those years taught me more than just how to master the fire — they taught me how to create real experiences around food. Moments that feel as warm and inviting as the ovens we cooked from.
Clay Oven Pizza is the result of years spent chasing flavor, refining technique, and delivering memorable experiences. It’s not just about great pizza (though trust me — it is great pizza). It’s about hospitality. It’s about showing up with intention, putting in the work, and creating moments that make people smile.
Whether I’m slinging pies at a backyard party, firing up an oven in the mountains, or talking food with a curious guest, I bring the same level of care and commitment. This isn’t just what I do — it’s who I am.
Let’s make something delicious together.
